Howard Goodall, in addition to being a prolific composer, is a radio presenter and the composer in residence for Classic FM. You will all be familiar with his arrangement of ‘The Lord is my shepherd’ for TV’s ‘The Vicar of Dibley’.
Goodall’s Requiem ‘Eternal Light’ is the most fantastic and fascinating merging of text from the Latin Mass and the Revelation of St John, and English poems written over the last 500 years. The poems include ‘Do not stand at my grave and weep’, ‘In Flanders field the poppies blow,’ and ‘Lead kindly light’. The beautiful music conjures up many emotions, and is a fitting commemoration to those who lost their lives in war. This is one concert you do not want to miss.
