Sheffield Chorale present Candlelight Carols, their ever-popular traditional service of nine lessons and carols in the beautiful surroundings of St John's Ranmoor on Thursday December 19th at 7:30 pm. Beginning with the late John Tavener's setting of William Blake's poem The Lamb, the Chorale will sing music by Tchaikovsky, John Rutter, Andrew Carter, Walford Davies, Bob Chilcott, and Elizabeth Poston. Also included is There is no rose by Richard Barnes, the founder of Bakewell Choral Society and former director of music at Lady Manners' School. Of course all are welcome to join in the usual familiar carols. Admission is free. The retiring collection will be in aid of Lost Chord.
