Children aged 7+ - and the whole family - will love the rhythmic stomping and musical code-cracking at Decoda's Family Concert.
Titled GUMBOOTS after the stamping that South African miners used to communicate in secret, it's a fascinating look at how music of all kinds contains codes, messages ... and lots of dance!
Internationally renowned musicians Decoda, from New York, will lead you through the world of music. With David Bruce’s Gumboots and South African folk song Shosholoza we'll communicate in pulse and rhythm, with Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No.1 we'll feel textures and hear articulations of sound, and with Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet K. 581 - the ultimate melody maker - we'll hear songs without words.
Be prepared to stomp, to clap, to hum, to imagine and create with the music of the past and the present.
You can wear your wellies if you want - they'll be great for stomping!
