The Tideswell Singers
Singing with other choirs extends our repertoire and takes us to new venues. We celebrated the opening of the tunnels on the Monsal Trail by holding a Sing & Cycle event. We will be repeating this on 22 June when the vintage cycling event, L’Eroica, comes to the Peak District
We're looking forward to a celebration that will make people aware of the special atmosphere that choral singing creates.
I am keen for my choir to experience the challenge of singing without a conductor and to appreciate the responsibility that each individual takes in creating the overall sound. One of my most special singing experiences was singing Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium in the Chapter House of York Minster.
The Tideswell Singers have a strong community spirit. We sing world music, popular song arrangements, unaccompanied sacred music, and works by contemporary composers. We often join with other choirs – we sang Britten’s World of the Spirit with Hallam Choral Society last year. We are hosting a “Come and Sing Vivaldi Gloria” in Tideswell Parish Church on 10 May.
